Don't want to assume but if you're referring to your Ford & you're unhappy with it's towing performance consider going to 4.30 gearing. Mine had 3.73s, I went to 4.30s and the seat-of-the-pants performance is very noticeable with only a very small drop in overall economy.

Yes I was referring to 1/2 tons as this is a 1/2 ton thread. I am perfectly happy hauling around my 8200lb trailer with my 9500lb tow rated truck (rating goes up with lower gears) and being well under every rating on the truck and trailer.
