If you already have the truck and are committed to it, you will be okay but need a smaller/lighter trailer to keep under your payload. That is the downfall of ALL half tons.
Its going to come down to what YOU want. Our current trailer has been wonderful for us. Its a 22 foot with a big bathroom, no slide. We have been very fortunate that all of our longer trips (15 days max so far) have been rain free during the day. It is tight quarters inside that trailer with no slide. We have a daughter and the space became a lot smaller with a crib on the lowered dinette. We are expecting child #2 and completely outgrown the rig.
My point in all that rambling is that without a slide it is VERY tight. I can't get to the bathroom when she is cooking or in the kitchen area. If it rained and we couldn't be outside, it would get aggravating quickly. I would suggest you really consider getting a unit with a slide. If you want a slide, that is going to increase tongue weight, probably beyond what the Ram is rated for.
A common trait amongst RV buyers is that they underestimate their needs for trailer and truck and buy too small the first time. Then they either deal with a truck/trailer that doesn't meet their needs for a couple years before upgrading or they take the financial hit and upgrade immediately. Fulltiming well put a lot more stress and strain on your truck. I would really consider upgrading your tow vehicle to a 3/4 or 1 ton as a result.
Enjoy your experience either way. I don't know that I will ever fulltime in a camper, but I look forward to the days when I can go out for months at a time and explore this great country of ours!
