Love this! We are a family of five (kiddos 10,7,4) and two dogs. I felt the pressure to go big because everyone says we need big. But in reality, we don't want big. Sure it may be close quarters and it may be nerve racking on rainy days, but we are camping. Our kiddos have their own rooms and we have plenty of space in our home that we live in far more often than the camper. :)
It can be easy to feel you "need" bigger and more, but take a step back and really make sure it's your needs and not someone else's opinion. :)
But I do agree with the slide if you can swing it. We are in the same boat as you with a half ton. There are options in our range out there, so just keep looking till you find a fit. :)
