The problem with the OP F150 and other F150 owners that report a white knuckle experience is they didn't have the right F150 for the job.
OP for example says his has a 1500 lb payload which means his F150 may have those small 3800 RAWR and a low 6800-7000 GVWR. If this is the case the OP simply has the wrong F150 for a 8k-10k TT.
Ford F150 has GVWRs ranging from 6500 to 8200 lbs.
Ford F150 has RAWRs ranging from 3500 on up to 4800 lbs.
And of course payloads up to 2400-2500 lbs in the bed with the HD model. The F150HD has a 7850-8200 GVWR and 4800 RAWR with load e tires.
Point is not all F150 has the same load carrying and tow capacity. Choose the wrong F150 for a 8k TT and it may be a white knuckle experience.
Choose the right F150 and all is well.
That size TT sure doesn't need a one ton truck..unless you just want one.
