My first experience with towing a TT came with renting a 25 ft TT.
While my F-150 had been set up with a towing package it only had a 200 hp motor. As a result it topped out at 65 mph on the flat and 52 mph on anything resembling a hill. Acceleration was very slow and it took constant manipulation of the gas pedal to keep it from down shifting.
I cannot say it was a "white knuckle" experience, you simply realized you were under powered and drove accordingly. It went forward when you stepped on the gas and stopped when you stepped on the brake.
It was a fine trip and it did show us that we needed a larger motor; another advantage of renting before you buy.
