Why try to only use their GVWR's...that is the only way to know which half ton
and where one is in reference to their ratings (GAWR's, GCWR's)
Of course all personal and remind folks that the only one responsible for the
setup is the driver...even if someone else chose the parts and did the install
Most of my comments these days are for those asking and newbies who might get
into trouble following some of the advice on these freebie sites
Again...there is NOTHING wrong with half ton's...just keep them..as with any TV
within their "TRUE" OEM ratings
Except that OEM ratings do not represent "truth". And the emphasis on "weight" is not the major problem of towing, it is winds. Whether straight line aero drag or cross winds natural or man made. A high COG TV pulling a high COG trailer on a really crappy suspension is the background to "truth". That's where accidents occur. And with tripping hazards.
Choose the worst TT and TV by design and expect problems. A pickup is as likely and sometimes MORE likely to turn over the rig than the trailer. A bad trailer design only exacerbates the tendencies.
Hitch lash and better trailer brakes mean more. Electronic trailer anti sway, factory or aftermarket, deserves more attention. More truck is a poor answer without a better analysis of the rig.
