getting ready to spend this year travailing in US. Is CB radio a worthwhile investment ,also what brand best ,user with easy hook up

I have one it my rig. Great for finding out about road conditions etc. Also some still use them on the beach passing fishing info. Yes sometimes need to shut off if the talk gets nasty.
