Not exactly apples to apples if one TC is quite a bit longer. The center of gravity especially with full tanks on the longer TC changes more.
I agree that if both are setup as good as possible, the DRW will have the edge. However, if you do things like add stableloads and or 19.5s to the SRW, and do the reverse to the DRW (put too much air in the airbags and run low tire pressure things change. In that case, the SRW would have the edge.
I’m carrying the same TC on my 450 that I had on my 350. The 350 SRW had 19.5s but otherwise was setup the same. Of course, the tires on the 350 had a lot more air. It was also a Supercab not a Crew Cab. We never carried a full water tank and limited what we brought with us. I’d say the biggest difference is the 450 turns way tighter and stops much faster than the 350 ever did.
We also pulled my wife’s uncle and aunts travel trailer behind the 450 with all that we wanted to bring from Seattle area to Yellowstone. The 450 had absolutely no issues. I wouldn’t have done it with the 350. Maybe it would have done it, but it wouldn’t have been as comfortable. Her uncle drove some and couldn’t believe how much better it drove with the TC and trailer compared to his normal tow vehicle.
