Has anyone heard of a Thomson Claymore trailer?

I am looking to buy a vintage trailer to use when I travel. I came across a 1978 Thomson Claymore. It looks to be in excellent condition. I'm going to see it on Monday to make a final decision. Has anyone heard of this make and model? I'm pretty sure it was built in Ontario Canada. Anything I should look out for when I take a look at it? Any info and pointers are much appreciated! Thank you!
Mike

  • Yes that much is true. I'm towing with a car though. Trying to keep it under 2000 pounds.

Ya, and to each his own, But a popup is really just a tent with wheels. And, you always have to spend time setting it up and taking it down. I really like my 20 foot hard side TT. It is still quite easy to tow, (but I know not as easy as a popup) and when I get to where I'm going if I don't' want to I don't have to do anything. For a quick overnight I don't even unhook. Just park, hop in the camper, make a quick meal, go to bed, and be out the door quickly the next day. When the wind is really blowing out here on the prairie A had side looks much nicer then a popup.

  • Thank you! Ya I'm going to offer $500 and go from there. If I'm.able to make a deal I'll post a link to pictures.
  • The asking price is $1000. I'm looking for a project, but not a total piece of crap. As I said it looks amazing from the pics!!

Thank you for that link! It's the same color as the ones in the pictures.

  • 78 was before my time with Rv's so I cant answer if real wood or not. what is the asking price on rv and is it like a 14 foot or so?
  • Ya I'll have to do a thorough check for wood rot. In 1978 were the interiors still real wood? From the pictures It looks great inside and out. I won't know more condition wise until I get inside it.

  • No but make sure nothing is rotted being a 1978. Check in the cabinets and around all 4 corners of R.V. Bad to rot here. Dont confuse vintage for junk. Good luck to you.
