I am not one to get the ranger involved, I take matters in my own hands :0
I will go over myself and ask politely to shut the generator off. I have no problem going over at 9:01pm (1 minute passed the cut off time) and letting someone know its quiet hours. Many people I have come across are running their generators to charge their batteries because they only have 1 12volt battery that is barely holding a charge because of lack of maintenance and I always seem to be that guy getting their noise pollution.
On the other hand when generator hours are 7am and the campsite next door was partying all night long I have no problem cranking up the genny right at 7 as close to their campsite as possible to run my Christmas lights. (I have only actually done this 1 time beach camping and all the high schoolers where sleeping in cots and 1 was actually on the picnic table with with no blankets or pad!)
