I feel for guys who go camping only to be forced to stay inside with AC running for whole day and sometimes a night.
Living in San Francisco area, my favorite campings spots are between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe. Camping on elevation of 4200' and having plenty of trees I never needed to run AC and I've been going to those spots for 25 years.
Sure few times we had rally at expensive campgrounds close to Sacramento and AC run about 16 hr.
