As an addendum to my previous comments, I have both a 1000 and a 2000. The 1000 is FAR quieter than the 2000, and if needed, the two can be joined together.
Sorry to go off track a bit here but I always heard only Hondas of the same wattage could be joined together. Have I heard wrong all this time? Thanks...DJ
Yes.
I'm an electrical engineer. If you look at the schematics of the EU-series of generators, ALL of them can be mix and matched. You just happened to have a 1000 and want to mix it with a 2000, a 3000, and another 2000... guess what, you can to get 8000 watts. The inverters in them are all auto-sync, exactly like grid-tie solar converters. I have measured the loads mixing and meshing a couple different EU gens, and they are smart enough to contribute roughly equal %'s to the load presented.
And - the bonus - you DO NOT need Honda's "linking cables", you can simply make a male-to-male plug and parallel them together with that. The Companion version is a good example of being able to do that. They use those banana-safety connectors to keep people from zapping themselves with exposed male-to-male outlet plugs. Of course, if you do follow this advice, don't zap yourself.
**Legal disclaimer, if you stick your tongue on a live male-to-male plug while the generator is running, it's not my fault Darwin has just selected it's latest award winner.**
WOW!!! I did not know that. BTW thanks a lot. You could have saved me a lot of money when I sold my 1000 and had to buy 2 2000!!! LOL
