A primitive camp ground was over 50 yards from tent campers either side.Ranger knocks says its 20 minutes after quite time gen has to be shut down.I immediately complied without any questions he said there were complaints.My feeling more the complainer was expressing a protest of principle not noiseI get it And no at daylight I didn't restart the unit, another couple hours b4 I left wouldn't have made a big difference in the frig runningIs this the norm. Yah, I'd have to side with the campers...Sorry, you have a watch as do they and the time is set. 10pm..While you might not hear it, either used to it or it's like "White Noise", the campers, assuming tents, can hear it loud and clear.I'd have to side with the campers, been there done that, and would have done the same thing... probably only sooner... I always follow the quite time regulations. I hate to wait until 8:00 some mornings to have my coffee. but I also hate to wake up to some _______ starting his generator early. Just follow the rules and no body gets hurt. I have been at state parks where people start their noisy contracter grade generators at the earliest start time and let it run all day.Sorry for the rant. Yes it is the norm.

Need to start your battery charging etc a bit earlier.Best to follow generator hours regardless of how quiet you think the generator is.

Didn't violate my common sense quite time which must not be what the park tolerates, Normal conversation around a campfire 50 yards away after 10 pm. The db would be what? Is more my point. Regardless I have been told by the park ranger and I wouldn't do it again, My camping experience also includes making neighbors glad we were neighbors. Great site

I don't like it when my neighbors break campground rules, so I don't break them. I find campgrounds that have rules I can and will follow and expect staff to enforce the rules consistently!

I don't think it matters if it was a Honda or a contractors Gen. Quiet time is just that. You went past it and got called on it.

My camper has 2 big batteries from the factory.
Since old batteries died, I am using single 110Ah battery (spare for our car). Still good for boiling cup of coffee and water pump for the rest of the day.

I have a Champion 3500/4000 open frame. It's not as loud as construction generators, but it is louder than a Honda 2000. More like two together trying to run an A/C.

How long after quiet time would you think it would be ok to run it? That's how people in tents, or have solar/ batteries feel about any generator.

We have spent a lot on 750w of solar, 675 Ah of battery and a big inverter so that we can be out in the middle of no where and quiet as a mouse. The generator is for emergency back up only as we don't even need it to run a air conditioner. Someday I may even take the new one with me. :)

Small coffee maker takes 500-700W, so even $39 inverter will do and even single battery will do (if fully charged).
