This is something new?
I remember logging trucks in Northwestern Montana having electronic scales installed on the truck and trailer axles so that the driver could check the weight as he was loaded. It really sucked to think you were OK, then go across the scales and find that you had to hire somebody to come out and remove a few logs so you could proceed to the mill, then hire somebody again to come out and load the logs back on the truck so you could take them to the mill. I remember seeing stacks of logs sitting by the scale house back then.
This was pre 1970, when computers were pretty much unknown in the vehicle industry.
I register my trucks with plenty of GVW, so I don't need a toy like this.
