Hauling a trailer with extended hitch?

I had the same problem. Wanted to haul a 4x4 in my 2004 chev long bed truck as well as tow my trailer to Arizona...and shut the tailgate.
Ended up with a Honda Pioneer 500 SXS. With the front brush guard removed (four quick bolts), the front wheels touch the bed front and the gate closes with 3-4 inches to spare. This worked for me anyhow.
