Other than being longer how does the 3' rear overhang affect manuverability and handling?
If you have the correct truck set up properly, other than mpg how does TC weight impact your trip?
We love our 5ver for slow paced trips where we park for longer periods of time between set up and take down, and generally use it east of the Miss. The TC we use for fast moving trips (heading to AK also) where we stop usually at a spot for 1 night --- or real long trips.
The mileage difference is huge. I get about 12 in mountains with the TC and a bit over 8 in the 5ver (gasser F250 6.2 10K GVWR).
Managing weight for us is a huge issue as the camper turned out to be much heavier than reported by the manufacturer (Lance 865)when "marginally" loaded. We are constantly managing weight and "leaning" out the TC- running with little or almost no water- no cast iron frying pans, no liquid drinks in the fridge, almost no canned foods, few clothes, etc etc. The next long trip we are removing the back seat in the crew cab and are removing the tow hitch off the rear of the truck to keep overall weight below GVWR. We spend a lot of time checking things out on CAT scales every trip.
The overhang isn't even noticeable (other than constantly forgetting to move the tag from the truck to the TC and back when done).
I suspect with a 450 you'll be in great shape
