Absolutely not! Having had 8 TC's from 8' to 11-1/2' over the last 50 years and presently have an 11'-4" TC. We'd go 2 feet longer if we could even with a DRW 3500HD diesel truck. We also have a 5th wheel and just sold our 3rd RV, a Sunline Solaris TT. Not fulltimers but travel a lot. Having reasonable room comfort is important to us and being squished in a "sardine can" is far from comfort!
We do simple offroading with our large TC and camp where we want to but long over forging swamps, climbing loose sand tall hills, challenging huge bolders to the top, ducking thru brush and weaving between trees because there's not even a 2 track. We found that kind of stuff a lot more enjoyable with our huge offroad tire'd Geo Tracker convertible. Guess we finally have grown up! Took 70+ years of living though to learn that TC's on pickups aren't meant for serious offroading and having real comfort too!
