Maybe 0 - 60 was brought up because it's the defacto standard for communicating how "snappy" a vehicle is in common traffic situations. Most all magazines that do car reviews report it. Because it's common and standard, you can easily compare vehicles and get a general sense of how one vehicle might drive differently from another.
Funny how one of the complaints I've read about the new Ttan HD is that it's a slug, most folks don't care about 0 - 60 in a truck, but if a truck used for daily driving had a time of 20 seconds, most folks would probably buy something else.
