And to all the flame throwers - I KNOW the Cummins is made for towing. The reality is I do a lot more with my truck than tow and daily driving responsiveness is at least worth considering when dropping 50K+ on a vehicle.
How often do you take off at WOT in you daily commute? Do you mostly take off at half throttle or quarter throttle? When you do take off, how high of rpms do you get? Do you get up past 4,000 rpm in your 6.4L at every take off to reach peak torque or 5,600 rpm to reach peak horsepower? If you are hardly ever pressing your throttle past the half way mark or reaching 4,000 rpm, then I would think the daily driver responsiveness would go to the Cummins over your 6.4L. If you are not reving past 3,000 in your 6.4L then you are not even likely where you could achieve 300 hp yet, to where you could reach 300 hp in the Cummins at around 2,000 rpm. A rate of take off that only requires quarter throttle for a diesel probably requires half throttle in your 6.4L simply because you truck has to me in the higher rpms for that power.
It is like my wife who always used to complain saying I was trying to race people off the line at every stop light. It wasn't until she drove my truck when she figured out I was actually giving it less throttle than what her sports care requires to take off at the same rate. Of coarse all this goes out the window if you do in fact take off from every stop at WOT.
