No he had a flash done. A tuner can be two different things. On is a physical device that is in the truck that is hooked to the port to change the tune on the vehicle. The other is a person that goes in with a computer and flashes the ECM. In that case we all have "Tuners".
Looking at the different tuners... Funny almost all plug into the obd plug and once downloaded they are removed... The exact same way the dealer does a flash. Anyway one wants to twist it ,it is the same thing and the results are the same, adding additional stress over and above what the manufacturer intended to the whole power train but over load weight wise and it becomes a crime.
You might want to click my links and see just what GDE is doing and how they do it! The performance tunes you are thinking of add large amounts of HP and TQ that can and will end up damaging the vehicle. This is not what GDE is about, however they can and will do custom tunes for their customers.
What I had done is yes a "tune" but not a performance tune. If it will make some of you feel better then yep I have a TUNE! OMG I feel free at last...free at last!!!!! :B
When I was up there they had a new baby Dmax that they tuned and where doing testing on. Yes they buy there own vehicles and do extensive testing on them BEFORE they release them to the public. They also have flash up dates when needed. My truck can go in to have a flash to help with turbo lag, an update Ram has out right now. The next time I'm up their way I will have it done. Again this is an update that ram Trucks does right now.
