HDTV antenna anyone???

i tried out an HDTV antenna (boosted) from a tv store and it only got me 4 channels. i started to look into them and found the jack antenna with good reviews. thinking about getting one for my pup.

anyone try this product? anyone in general cut into their roof to install any add ons? i'm curious if there are cross member rails on these pups since installing this would require you cut a 2.25" hole.

how about any other HDTV antenna types?

  • Exactly. HDTV OTA signals still use the same UHF and VHF signals as was used for good old fashioned analog TVs. Google "What is the difference between an HDTV and a regular one" for more reading on the subject.
  • So we are all clear....
There is no such thing as an HDTV antenna, an DTV antenna, or anything else represented to be digital anything, period. That's all sales hype from people that probably don't know any better.

What they are selling you, and what you should be looking for is a standard old UHF antenna, the same one used for the last 50+ years. While the Jack appears to be a good antenna, there is no proof it's any better than the Winegard with the Wingman attached, but it is smaller.
  • cool, ordered me one. anyone know how thick the roof is on at starcraft rt pup?
  • It is a great antenna. I installed a brand new one on a command vehicle. I now have one on my crank up antenna instead of the bat wing. It works great. Call the mfgr though to be sure that thin of a roof will accomidate it. I suspect it will. You will need to get 12 volts to it so think about a nearby light fixture etc.
  • At home we replaced our boosting HDTV antenna with this one that we bought from costco. The improvement was amazing. Clicky
  • We just got a new to us RV which didn't have the digital antenna and the dealer removed the bat wing, left the arm and rep, aced it with the digital antenna. Although it was included with the sale I believe it was oly $69 for the part. It received about 50 or so channels over the weekend. :C
