For those using electric heat a lot, check those "Handy heaters". They can be bought for about $20 on ebay and I found them very handy for CA winters.
I had 2 of them running most of the time and 3rd one ready in case of freezing.
On low fan they are very quiet and don't make temperature spikes big heaters do.
One mounted on bathroom wall makes the place very cozy.
