Those "tip out" things are actually beds...the trailer is called a Hybrid Travel Trailer because it's a combination of the body of a hardside trailer with the canvas bunkends. We just finished our 7th year with our ROO 23SS - then made the change to our TT - and loved it. It's surprising how many of our friends north of the border wouldn't consider a "box", aka TT. The bottom of the bunkends aren't plywood, but a bonded material of some sort about 1" thick and it really does offer decent insulation. If a person loves the tent-camping life, but wants some amenities, the HTT is the answer. You know going in that you will need extra preparation to help control temps, but add some Pop Up Gizmos, something like a memory foam or other, maybe add some reflectix in the window part of the bunkend and you're good. You either love HTT or you hate HTT....unless you're making a change for some other reason. In our case, guess we never thought we'd get older and have challenges that go with the territory. So never thought we'd have other than our beloved ROO. In good weather, there is absolutely nothing better than unzipping the bunkends and catching that Saturday afternoon snooze with the breezes coming through. Even here in TN, we've camped below freezing and it was just fine.
