heated mattress

We just bought a used 2010 rockwood that has a heated mattress. We havent had one before and were wandering if putting a memory foam topper on top of this mattress would be a safety concern? We dont do much cold weather camping, but when we do it would be nice to use it. There wasnt any literature on the mattress when we bought the camper. Thanks!
  • Many folks with HTT use memory foam or similar with their heated mattresses. We were fine with the mattress just as it was a LOVE the heated part. Our new TT also has the heated mattress. We use just the least expensive regular mattress pad from Walmart. You might post this on the HTT side....after 7 years there, I never asked if they put the memory foam over or under the mattress. I would not put in on top, but that's just an opinion.
  • The mattress tag could have been removed during the last Gov't shutdown, with no gov't, no law breaking
  • Our memory foam says do not use with a heated anything. The way they work is they use body heat to make the mattress soft and a form to your body. A heated pad want let you do that.
  • We have heated mattress pad on our bed and it stats on it not to put any toppers over it. They recommend only a sheet over it. So I would assume a heated mattress would be the same.

I'm wandering if the foam would allow the heat to reach your body.

Most owner's manuals are available online.
  • Does it have a manufacturer tag so you can check the website? Remember, nobody ever tears those tags off since it's a felony :-) If the tag isn't there, please report the previous owner to the mattress police.
