Heating Trailer While Driving

Hi, I'm new to the travel trailer world and am getting ready for our first trip. A two month trip down the west coast. Its been getting cooler up North and I'm wondering if anyone leaves the propane running while driving to heat their trailer. It would be nice to arrive at our destination with a warm trailer.

Thanks
Josh

What a waste of gas. Most trailers are so poorly insulated that the heat loss is virtually immediate. Most of the heat you generate while traveling will be wasted.

Turn the heat on when you get there, and within minutes the trailer will be just as warm as if you'd left it on the whole trip. Why waste fuel?

  • Never. I avoid using the furnace when I am occupying the RV. I am certainly not going to run the furnace while RV is empty going down the road.
It will heat up fast enough while I set up. Why waste the propane.
  • Yes; often. If it is a short trip. Otherwise I will turn it on when I am about 30 minutes out or so. Thought I was the only one. LOL.
