Height question

Just curious. What is the average total height of a typical camper mounted on a truck like the one my Tiger is built on: A Silverado 3500HD 4X4. I'm betting it is a lot higher than my Tiger but I have never seen any measurements. My Tiger has 6'4" interior height, BTW.

12 feet 5 inches to top of AC unit.
  • I see your height lists at 10' but that is without the AC, so you have most of us by a few inches. But you give up a lot on the interior. Maybe things you don't care about though. Not to say I wouldn't like to have one, but not to replace my current rig. The width and height of the Tigers would be helpful on some of the old logging roads I creep down in BC. On the other hand I only have $45K in mine. Brand new truck with an older camper. Not interested in 3X as much $.
  • The Tiger like yours appears shorter in the cabover area compared to a truck camper and most of the campers now have basements. Add to that that your Tiger is also built on a GM which is shorter as well compared to Dodge/Ram/Ford.

I wouldn't be surprised to find the overall height being 2 - 2 1/2 feet higher with a truck camper on a 4 wheel drive Ford/Dodge/Ram. My overall height is about 12 1/2 feet.

It's hard to compare your Tiger to one of the larger campers like mine. Looking at the Tiger site, they are building bigger ones though and they appear to have some on Ford frames and with heigher cabover areas.
  • I have the same truck. Pastime camper. Height to top of ladder (high point) is 11'5". Without the ladder it would be just over 11' The camper sits on a 4" platform so there is plenty of clearance, if I cut that to a minimum to clear the cab and sides of bed the height would be 11'3". I haven't measured the inside height but it is well over 6'4". Oh, I don't have an AC.
  • Are you talking about exterior height, from ground to the top of the highest point on the roof of the camper, or from the ground to the ceiling?

Your post is a bit confusing because of how you ask about height of camper mounted on a truck, but then mention the interior ceiling height of your rig. (the interior ceiling height doesn't really have much relevance if you are wanting to know overall height from ground to top of the high point on the roof of a camper mounted in a truck bed)
