We camped for several years in a pop-up with kids about the same age as yours. We spent most of our time outside. If the weather gets really bad, we sometimes had to cut the trip short, but it was not often. We didn't have a problem with water leaks, but one winter the rats got in it and ate a bed and one tent. So far as summer, note Baton Rouge, it was hot during the day, but at night it was plenty cool enough. If you get a standard hard side trailer, I strongly recommend at least one slide. If you get stuck in it due to weather or something, without a slide they get real small real fast. Do your homework on TV; the general rule is you never replace the first one with the same size or smaller, always a bit larger. My wife still says everytime we get another trailer we get a bigger truck. I don't see the problem, but it seems to bug her.LOL. When buying used, other than the standard wet spot, soft floor etc. to look out for, I also looked for things like how scratched are the cabinets, stained upholstery?, torn floor coverings? Things like that I believe show what kind of abuse may have been inflicted from the previous owner. Good luck with the search!
