There is only one reason to buy this ram 1500 diesel, that is if you just have a preference for a diesel over gas.
This engine will be out towed, and in general out performed by most every gas engine out there in a half ton, other than in mpg.
However I highly doubt that the mpg will be great enough to provide a financial justification for this engine.
combine these with the issues that are possible with the new diesels and I don't think they will sell near as many as people think. that and it doesn't have a cool big truck heritage like a cummins.
So while some just want a diesel it really is pretty pointless for most. Besides those who have a diesel fetish will probably opt for the bigger diesels in the 3/4 tons anyways.
