I never said it was?
The EB has 365HP and 420 torque.
The new oil burning goat is said to have around 250HP and 4?? something ?? torque.
It is the same amount of torque 420llbs. I do not think that Fiat/Chrysler is offering something that can be humiliated by an Ecoboost. That said you will find a shootout by PUTC to promote te RAM 1500.I will not be drawn into speculation in how the RAM may perform as there has been no specifications released..
If everything was just solved by a simple theoretical analysis, why test it? . I only know how 3 Litre Diesel Jeeps perform against the 5.7 Hemi engines from practical experience here.
According to an early report, the decision to move ahead with production of the Ram 1500 diesel was made based on consumer demand. Ram CEO Fred Diaz is also cited as saying he expects the diesel-powered 1500 to be much more than a niche product; a strong indication that Ram is looking to further grow its sales to challenge Chevrolet, GMC and the long-reigning sales champ in the pickup segment, the Ford F150.

Now, can you tell me how a truck with a 1/3 more HP is going to be slower? I
No the speculation was the Diesel was
going to be slower but have better fuel economy. That is not the case it will be reasonably quick and it's towing performance will be quite acceptable. See below for what I mean.

This engine will be out towed, and in general out performed by most every gas engine out there in a half ton, other than in mpg.
However I highly doubt that the mpg will be great enough to provide a financial justification for this engine.
Quite a common reaction about the 3 Litre Diesel.http://fishwrecked.com/forum/jeep-grand-cherokee-2012I bought the new WK2 3 months ago now its the Laredo 3LTD with 177kw/550NM stock standard apart from Quadralift suspension, tow bar, tinting, protection pack and braking controller. The diesel is quicker and more powerful than the v8 petrol and come with a 90l tank. Wow this thing is quick i couldn't believe that this new little diesel was quicker than my BF 6spd manual falcon!! I have now done 5000kms and have not had any problems at all ( belive me i was expecting some)

:240 hp and 420 lb-ft. Think I'd much rather have the ecoboost at 365 hp and 420. I don't get the hype, diesels just seem like way too much hassle for me unless they're big and being put to work. I live where it gets cold tho, so my experiences may have tarnished them in my ming. Still tho, 240 hp. As long as you never need to pass anything or get up to 160 km/h in a hurry..
Reply@Ed Edson, forget what you're reading on paper, this motor powers the Grand Cherokee to 60mph quicker than the Hemi! My dad uses his GC diesel for towing horses and he described it to me the other day as "feels like you are not towing anything." People talk about horse power, but really it is torque that is the key, even when you are not towing!
