True but the basic question of powerplant vs. load remains valid and the TC world seems to have the highest variety of chassis/engine combo's out there. I love my 2002 7.3 Ford diesel but the times they are a changing. Diesels still have advantages but the complexity level has risen dramatically in the last few years but when they have problems they are BIG problems...$$$$. Diesel has gone up in price as a fuel vs Gas so some of the savings are lost. Also going diesel means you are losing 500lbs. or more payload/mileage. You have to drive ALOT of miles to see a payback on a diesel or be hauling a heavy load IMO to make it a payback. Most RV folks TC or otherwise are not driving 365/yr. Maybe 10K/miles/yr.
For example, a 6000 mile trip. Diesel = 14mpg @ $4.00 = $1700 or Gas 10 mpg @ 3.50 = $2000. Hard to justify the extra $5K for the diesel. I use my truck for a lot more than the TC so it almost works out but a V10 would be easier to live with. Again...these are just opinions.
