There was quite a discussion on this a while back but I am convinced that the Allison transmission is maxed out on the ratings and is the weak link in the chain. The 1000 series that GM uses is rated for 30,000lbs GCWR. Is that conservative? Probably. But do you want to test that theory? I don't know why GM hasn't gone ahead and put in a higher rated Allison.
Until GM comes out and makes a statement it is all speculation and they don't seem inclined to do that. So speculation is all we have to offer.
