The other thing is, the additional initial cost and maintenance make owning a diesel much less cost effective these days. You need to put a lot of miles per year on a diesel, hauling large loads, for it to really be cost effective.
Why do we need to argue cost effectiveness of a diesel for pulling an RV? Nothing about raving is cost effective. To me the diesel is a comfort option in the truck, just as much as heated and cooled leather seats is a comfort option to some. Do I need it, no, do I want it when pulling a trailer in the mountains?
