Help with a fixer upper!

Hello guys and gals. I am new to the forum because I am new to RV ownership. If I am posting in wrong place, please move to correct place.

So I acquired a Forest River Surveyor SV291 in a trade. Most importantly the flooring sags and I suspected rotten wood. I began removing it and saw it was foam panels laying atop metal beams with a waterproof barrier. The foam had just been destroyed my someone's weight or heavy items I suspect. I have plenty of 2x4 and 2x6 at my disposal. My question is can I take out these foam panels and put 2x down as the subfloor and maybe put hardwood over it? Or would it add too much weight? I am having problems with the slide too but I will make a new thread on it. Also what is that waterproof lining called? Can it be patched or should I replace all of it. It seems good in the front part of the camper. Attached are a few pictures. Thank you guys in advance

  • I have slightly the same problem as you. come in the door about 3' and turn to go to the back of the trailer there is a soft, that I never noticed until my 300# brother in law stands there. the foam floor is solid, but there is no support under it. longitudinals running from the main frame are spaced about 5' apart with the soft spot right in the middle. as typical, poor engineering. I'm going to weld a piece of channel from each longitudinal through that area and that should cure the problem.
