help with famly bunkhouse choice please KZ jayco others

We have owned Jayco and KZ. The build quality of the Jayco far surpasses the KZ Spree. We had numerous build quality issues with the Spree, sold it two years ago and will never own another KZ product. Every builder has a lemon here and there so thoroughly inspect which ever brand you choose. Good luck and happy hunting for that enjoyable rv!

FYI, my KZ came with a two year warranty and we purchased a 7 year extended plan.

I traded a Jayco 33.5BHLT (bunkhouse) and loved it. No problem other than front cap fad, an issue they (& others) had for a couple years. I would still have it it my grandson had not gone home to mom after years. I now have a new KZ and there are far less KZ dealers. Both seem to be solid units. I may change my mind when I have the KZ as long as I had the Jayco, s far so good.

Jayco is very proud of their 2 years warranty, but many manufactures will extend their warranty to 2 years for not a lot of money. Make sure it is a manufacturer extended warranty, not a dealer or third party. They are much more difficult to deal with while you are on the road.

Thanks for all the input. Good to hear some positive experience with KZ. I'm going to look at some jayco's and a passport tomorrow. Then try to make a decision

We bought our 2015 KZ new in 8/2014 right after Thor took over and have had no issues. It is built as well as the new Jayco that we owned before the KZ and we have had much less issues then we had with the Jayco.

Bought first KZ Toy Hauler in 2013, upgraded last year. Only had one issue with first trailer (ramp problem which was warranty replaced quickly and efficiently by my dealer), I would certainly buy another.

We have a KZ Sportsman Classic 17RBS that's been fine since we purchased it 2 years ago. Has not been back to the dealer since we've owned it.

Also any questions, KZ either answers their phone or calls you back. Great customer service!!

I also owned a Jayco hardsided pop-up (Aliner spinoff) That was a lemon. It does happen, probably with all manufacturers, I realize that. But Jayco customer service SUCKED!!!!!!

I did not mention the dealer, but you are correct ... those are some great folks.

The problems that do occur have less to do with the same parts & components like fridges, AC units, stoves, plumbing & electrical systems, etc. and a whole lot more to do with how the manufacturer puts a TT together using all those same shared parts & components.

Bad factory workmanship is common and some are better than others. It's also about how well a manufacturer stands behind their warranty and supports the dealer and how interested a dealer is in solving and fixing issues. I sure would never buy a TT based just on layout or looks or bling which is what too many do and end up being sorry. Choose wisely. We ended up going through 3 TTs in 3 years. If we knew in the beginning what we know now, we would have saved a lot of $$ and aggravation.
