Chet, wouldn’t it be cheaper to put a Honda on a front carrier like Kayteg1 and maybe you could run a power cable under the truck to your camper. You will also have a quieter generator experience.
Hey Kayteg1, I bet Chet would take you out for a night on the town in Nashville if you helped him with that generator project.
We spoke about it like last winter, but Chet insisted on rebuilding his Generac.
The Lance factory cable reaches the front mounted generator just fine, so it takes seconds to pull it. Obviously you can't drive with it.
Carrying 3rd fuel gasoline is not big deal when you convert old generator compartment into shelved one, where gas can fits.
Last year I also added "pocket generator" - the 1000W inverter sold at HD. That thing weights 20 lb and can be stuffed anywhere.
The fuel tank on Honda gives it like 16 hr of running, what is probably more than 7.5 gal propane cylinder can give you.
The small generator run at the time when you don't need AC will run most of the day on couple glasses of gas it holds.
Lastly 7.5 gallon of propane is like 2 seasons supply if you don't need it for generator, so I left 1 cylinder at home, when the freed space was good for BBQ and swimming gear.
