Payload is 1,486 lbs. Subtract your weight over 150# (50#) and your wife's weight 130#. You are down to 1,306#.
Your truck cargo is 1486 lbs, take 180 lbs off for you and passenger (driver weight of 150 lbs is assumed already in the cargo rating).
Unless Ford is different than other manufacturers, this is incorrect. You need to subtract the full weight of the driver from payload. The tow rating accounts 150lbs for the driver, payload does not.
Per Fords Towing guide found HEREBottom notes of Page 2 states..GCWR column shows maximum allowable combined weight of vehicle, trailer and cargo (including passengers) for each engine/axle ratio combination.
Maximum Loaded Trailer Weight assumes a towing vehicle with any mandatory options, no cargo, tongue load of 10-15% (conventional trailer) or king pin weight of 15-25% (5th-wheel trailer) and driver
only (150 pounds).
Weight of additional options, passengers, cargo and hitch must be deducted from this weight. Also check Required and Recommended Equipment.Basically Ford HAS deducted the driver weight of 150 lbs from the cargo weight since it has already been deducted from the GCWR..
But please note, they do mention 10%-15% TW of conventional bumper pull but yet if you take 15% of the max trailer weight you WILL be over the CARGO weight in MANY cases!
Wouldn't it be easier to figure out just using the GVWR of the trailer instead of dry weights and needing to count the amount of crackers and bread slices you can include on your trip?
