- Gary3ExplorerNow add a DRW and large camper with a utility trailer behind and I think it will drop the towing mpg a lot farther.

Sounds good to me. Cheaper gas and maintenance costs also. - jimh406Explorer IIII agree that 16.5 and 10 towing is pretty good. That's similar to what my 6.0 gas engine did years ago.

What speeds do you run?
Are these hand calc numbers are from the computer?
The empty is hand calculated, the in tow being two short 2 hour trips are the computer. I do reset the numbers on the computer before each trip so I feel they will be close when I make a long enough trip to get hand calculated accuracy. Thats was running 60 mph avg in tow. - MoteExplorer

I'd say that's pretty good gas mileage. My dad has a 2001 dodge 2500 with the 5.9 gas that gets 13mpg empty and 8 pulling. - campingkenExplorerOuch?? That's a pretty good MPG return when you factor in the cost of the motor(vs. diesel), the cost of the fuel, and the cost of routine service.

- MoteExplorerThere are some discussions in the tow vehicles section with some folks that have them. I'd like to drive one too but the closest one is 90 miles away according the Cars.com
