- 93Cobra2771ExplorerI third the backup camera. They are under $100 on ebay/amazon/walmart and well worth the money.
HA is no hard to hookup. The trick to hooking up is to UNHOOK correctly. Remove all the tension off the screw jacks. Pull out. DO NOT TOUCH THE SCREW JACKS till after you are hooked back up.
Once the stinger is ready to go in the HA, your steering wheel must be straight. Otherwise, the head will start trying to turn, and may throw you out of alignment. - ReneeGExplorerYes, 4X on the backup camera. We had one too and DH painted around the "port", bright red so he could easily see it in the camera for directing the stinger. He also made sure to spray it with a lube so it helped it go in easier.
- peirekExplorerx5 on the backup camera. Check my sig :B
- BarneySExplorer IIII use a mirror that attaches to my tailgate. Can usually hookup in one try and only have to get out of the truck one time to check the vertical alignment. I have painted the top of the stinger and the top of the opening of the Hensley white so it is very easy to see when they are lined up.
I have hooked up in many off camber situations and never had a problem. As mentioned earlier by goducks10, if the truck and trailer are at an angle that puts the truck going sharply uphill or downhill to the trailer, you may have to back up & raise tongue a couple of times in small amounts to get the stinger in. It really is not hard at all! :)

Here is what I use. - SprinklerManExplorerI have a pro pride , it works the same way , its rather simple , and as easy if not easier than my old equalizer.

The hitch head is adjustable up and down with the jack screws and it swivels side to side which helps if you're not dead on. Just takes a little practice or a good assistant who knows what they are doing.
When I had my TT with a HA, there was definitely a learning curve to it. Using the method above, I could hitch or unhitch just as quickly as I could when I had my Reese Dual Cam set up.
It does take practice, but once you find the solution, it becomes much easier. However, what little trouble it takes to hitch up, is waaaaay over shadowed by the overall safety and road handling ease of the HA.
I would never, never have another TT without one. Period!

Nothing else hitches like a HA/PP so it does take getting used to.
However once you get past the learning curve it's not a problem.
Use a back up camera it will really simplify the process and shorten the learning curve.
I used a Swift Hitch when I towed my TT with the HA.
For the record my HA equipped TT towed/behaved just as well as my fiver - cruz-inExplorer"For the record my HA equipped TT towed/behaved just as well as my fiver"
Glad to hear that as I just put the deposit down on a Evergreen Amped 32GS....I was conccerned about the transition from a 5th wheel to a TT - LantleyNomadWow That is quite a rig. I thought you were going the TT route to downsize.
But that rig maybe heavier than what you have! Looks Nice enjoy it.
What do you anticipate your Tongue weight to be? Is the Hensley limit still 1400#? I assume you will not be traveling fully loaded? - JframpeyExplorerX3 on the camera...
I line up and stop about 6" from the hitch - make any final height adjustment. And slide right in...
Faster than viagra - cruz-inExplorerempty tongue weight is 1150ish and expect it to be 1250 to 1300 when loaded.... lots goes behind the wheels in the garage....yeah it is a beast...I am 6 foot 3inches with long arms and I cannot touch the cieling inside...It actually has much more room than our current 5th wheel which is 28 feet long...
