When I used an HA with my 2010 F150 towing a 31' 7300lb TT, the TT still waggled. But the truck didn't. Passing semi's side by side the truck was rock solid. I could still see my TT moving back and forth in the rear view mirror.
Now here's the interesting part. I moved up to a 2500 truck with a 169"WB which is 25" longer than the F150 I was using and the 2500 truck was rock solid without using the HA. I'm guessing it's the proverbial tail wagging the dog thing.
Getting an HA is obviously cheaper than up sizing trucks.
I've found the same thing tv weight AND WB length (along with a hd suspension)make a great difference . I didn't like my wd hitch on my 1500 but on my 3500 it works very well
