The standards are meant to kill of trucks and SUVs - the products consumers want the most.
I'll admit my bias but I would love for Ford to buy Jeep. We currently own an F-150 and a Chrysler Town and Country. I have mostly been a Ford guy but also owned a Dodge Dakota. My experience with customer service has been light years better at Ford dealerships over Dodge. Maybe it was just the ones I dealt with but it was across multiple dealerships in different regions. And I didn't have a local dealer to deal with warranty work when Chrysler closed dealerships in 2009.
