- gboppExplorerDon't go to the Hershey RV show to find the best prices. Go to see what is new and what manufacturers have to offer.
There are a lot of units on display, you can find the floor plans that work for you and what features you may or may not like.
We went last year and encountered a lot of high pressure sales tactics.
Be prepared to walk away. - KX5002ExplorerGood to know, I'm planning on going there Saturday... just to look at what's available.
I'll have to try hard to resist "the deals" :) - itguy08ExplorerWe went in 2014 and are planning to go Saturday just to look around - absolutely 0 intention of buying anything as we love our unit and just want to see the new stuff. We actually "found" our unit at the Feb 2015 Harrisburg show.
From what I remember deals were OK - not super spectacular but good. As far as delivery - I've heard it's later in the week at an off-site location. Which does make sense especially if you've got a trade. - LynnmorExplorerPretty much everything at the show can be researched online. Narrow down the units that suit your needs, and then go to the show to see how they were thrown together. You will be able to get the same prices anywhere and anytime.
- Dennis12ExplorerHershey show is for having all of your options at one site, that's it. Find your floor plan that works for you and then start calling dealers. My best deal came from Richards Motor Sales out of Reading MI. Had a 6 hour drive but saved 4K over my best price. Good people good luck
- Passin_ThruExplorerI went one time but was not impressed. Felt pressured like used car salesmen do to you. Also, looked at a single axle 36 ft and could have paid cash but the guy looked at me in my khaki shorts and Tshirt and stuck up his nose. I should have bought the company and fired him. Most were pretty much jerks because I wouldn't buy. Never planned to anyway. Just wanted ideas.
- spoon059Explorer III'm not sure where the rumor started about fantastic RV show pricing, but I've never seen it. When we were researching new campers in 2011 and 2012 we went to the Hershey show, the Maryland State Fair show and the Dulles Expo show. We looked at a lot of models and wrote down prices. None of them were any better than prices advertised on the dealers lots.
The Hershey show is local dealers bringing their own stock. They can set whatever prices they want to set. Some of them might offer decent deals, some of them might try to take advantage of the instant gratification crowd who are willing to pay more money right now because they see it.
Perhaps at the end of the show you might save a couple hundred dollars (however much it would cost the dealer to tow the trailer back to their lot) on a trailer that thousands of people have walked through, thousands of people have roughly yanked cabinet doors open, thousands of SWEATY people have plopped their butts down on the couch, etc. I'd rather pay $500 extra and get a new unit without all that wear and tear
If you are in the area anyways, head over to Keystone Mega RV Center in Greencastle, PA. They are a huge dealer with a wide variety of makes and models. They ordered me my trailer for only a few hundred dollars over RVOne.com's guaranteed low price. I was super happy with the price, the knowledge of the staff, the helpfulness and quality of service for some warranty issues.
Good luck, maybe I'll see you there Saturday!
