Hesitant owner of 1/2 ton, need 3/4 ton?
I have that other thread going about sleeping under a camper shell topper and how practical it might be. I have 2008 Nissan Titan, which seems to have plenty of power but maybe the frame of a 1/2 ton ...

Why are you so fixated on undersized vehicles?
The new Titan is still a half ton. Diesel motor will probably actually reduce payload because of the extra weight.
Modern 2500/3500 series trucks are nothing like their predecessors. Smooth, much improved ride and handling. If your really going to a truck camper, you first need to decide how big, then size a truck to handle that load. Kind of like trying to remove a nut. Your not going to use a 1/2 inch wrench to remove a 5/8 inch nut are you?
