Hey, Dodge Gurus...buzzing/rumbling noise

Here ya go, right off the Moog hub assembly:





Apparently, Iljin is a global manufacturer of bearings and steel, see here.

Iljin now has plants in Michigan, South Carolina and Alabama...and apparently makes and sells bearings under the Moog and SKF brands. If my bearing came from Korea, not sure what they make here stateside.

Of course a little Goolging turned up this recall notice, fortunately my part # was not included. Interesting that the manufacturer lists the Michigan address and part #s under all 3 brands, SKF, Moog, and Iljin.

As a side note, I about busted a gut last night, the torque spec for the caliper cage bolts on the front of a 2500 Suburban are a whopping 221 ft/lbs! A 1/2" torque wrench only goes to 150, so I got out my 24" breaker bar and leaned on it till it looked like it was gonna snap and called that 221 ft/lbs.

I could see the bearing flange that said made in China. It is a SKF bearing but they have plants everywhere so who knows what bearing is made at what plant. Just a crapshoot I guess.

Well it's laser engraved on the hub flange, the bearing is already in it with the ABS sensor, studs, etc. Not sure if the bearing has any visible markings, will snap a pic later before I install it.

The bearing or the whole thing? The Mopar hubs are machined and assembled here. But the bearings in my hub came from China.

Hmmm... the SKF bearings I bought for my wife's Subaru were manufactured in Illinois (around Elgin/Aurora, somewhere around there). But alas, most companies only produce some of their product line here in the states.

Sorry but even my Mopar hubs with SKF bearings in them are made in China. The bearings are that is, the hub is made here in the States with Chinese made bearings. Just like Ford, GM and everyone else's. Your hard pressed to find a bearing stamped USA any more. Unless maybe they came out of USA, China. :M

Awww Don say it ain't so! What brand is the best these days? Moog/National is owned by Federal-Mogul, I thought they made quality parts? I saw SKF brand but they were another $50 each.
