Ditto on the hub bearings. Actually have two for the burb enroute from Rock Auto as we speak. The noise sounds like noisy tire tread, and gets gradually louder so it's hard to notice because you get used to it. Confirmed mine when making a left turn and it got really loud.
Very hard to confirm which one, since it could be either the left or the right making the noise on a left turn, depending on how the bearing is worn. I'm changing both on the theory that if one is bad the other is probably not far behind it. The parts should be here tomorrow and I have the job teed up for tomorrow night in the garage.
If you take it to a garage be sure to tell them you want quality bearings like Moog or Timken...many shops use the cheap Chinese stuff to improve their margins...if you are going to pay for the labor be sure they install good parts so that you're not paying for this job again in a year.
The Moogs for the Suburban were $143 each, you can get the cheapos for half of that, and very true that you get what you pay for.
Quick look on Rock Auto for yours is Moog # 515038 $138 each. Same part is $176 at Advance.
