I think you were wise to get a commercial duty medium duty truck, rather than a pickup or a light medium duty, based on a pickup.
Frame size, suspension components, engine, transmissions, build quality, durability...all at a medium duty level.
I'm still surprised that more don't go that route.
It makes sense to me, if one is going to have a large, heavy trailer and intends to RV for many miles and years.

does it take an special drivers lic to drive one of those larger TV trucks??
I see some dudes driving 45ft motor homes that look just like a grayhound bus, just have never ask them what type lic they had as it really was none of my business.
last year at one camp ground the guy next to me and his son had two of the big ones, I watch them park. They backed into the spot easier than me with my little 27ft trailer.
