I would suggest that you buy two new 6v GC2 batteries, at least you'll be starting off with a fighting chance. One old battery and another hybrid 12v from Walmart is going to mean trouble. Keep your existing 12v as an emergency backup, either switched and in place or stored inside, warm and charged. I would also have a generator in case of bad weather. At those elevations there isn't room for error.
