High end TT

I have been again pondering selling our tried and true MH as she has given us so many years of good service all things come to the end of their cycle. Anyway we have spent much time on the road and have put a big dent in the travel bucket list. I think with total retirement coming we will most likely do some snowbirding and spend more time in 1 spot. The MH has been a great traveler and we have enjoyed the convenience of having all the amenities only a few steps away.
Getting to my point we had looked at several 5ers over the past couple of years and I thought that was the way to go the big drawback to the 5er seems to be the stairs coming in and between the main area and the bed bath. I have noticed on our trip we are on a number of great looking TT such as a Cougar a keystone and a couple of other good looking units in the 30' plus range.
Please tell me more about the TT experience and what I should look for in a higher end unit. I would put whatever is necessary into the hitch to make it as good as I can. I can tow and back with the best of them having towed my 8000 lb. fishing charter boat all over creation. what should I be looking for what are the pitfalls and can a TT be as nice as a 5er. Thanks for the input

  • When I started looking for a travel trailer I had several people reference Arctic Fox 4 Season Trailers. We ended up ordering one site unseen and are very happy with it. It is well built and very nice units.

They have a sister company Outdoors Manufacturing that has some really nice looking Black Stone trailers you might also consider as well.

With both of these companies you will probably need to travel West to see many of them in person. We went to Oregon and picked ours up in the same town they are made.
  • Just bought a Snowriver made by Arctic Fox. Impressed with its quality although not the dealer I got it from.I went as small as I could and still have a walk around bed. However I spend winters in Mexico and smaller is better down there.
  • 5 er pain in the arse to hitch up... Need a big truck to pull.

TT you can get more with smaller truck and proper WD hitch...

IMO TT the only way to go...

Im sure the 5 er guys will disagree...LOL

I would probably stick with a MH though...

If you want a high end TT start with Airstream and Arctic Fox. Airstream has their own forums at Airforums and there is lots of information about Northwood Arctic Foxes on this forum and their website. I have a 30 foot TT and your observations about level floors in the TT in deference to a fifth wheel has merit. Also, a TT can be towed by other than a pickup and if you use a pickup you have the full truck bed for stuff.
