Thanks all for your kind words and willingness to follow along.
Buzzcut: I too had gland bruisers: a ’66, FJ40 w/factory PTO winch and a ’70, FJ55 with lots of stuff. I know the place of which you speak.
DJ: Yep, sorry you had to “back” out of the trip. It screamed your name to me over and over again. That’s why you got the invite.
Billtex: It wasn’t raising the bar at all. It’s all a matter of perspective. Bro and I came from a hard-core, off-road background and this seemed tame compared to some crazy things we have done in the past. It’s just the fact that we’re hauling around 3 to 4 times the weight of a small 4X4.
Go dogs: The cool little trailer was a Morse-(something) and was completely referbed inside and out. Awe inspiring job. There was about 5 miles of gravel to get to Saddlebag Lk. I’m sure they went very slowly.
PapPappy: If your 31’ Winnie was a rental, it would make it fine. Nothing off-roads like a rental class C. How do I know? Bro rented one a few yrs. Ago and we took it on the dry lake at the Hammers for a competition.
DB: You are the winner of a free camping beer token! Bro had no centering gigs so the box wanted to wander off the back on really steep grades.
Tiger4x4: good to meet you and find out how capable that little rig truly is.
CE: It looks like you were a couple days ahead of us at Saddlebag. You are in the very spot Bro John camped in a few days hence. Since you were one of the invited ones, maybe next time we can hook up. Yes, let’s see that trip report. It should be a dusy.
3 tons: Yep, it looks like a one or two day miss. Two giant white ships passing in the night.
Alex: I was hoping you would have come. But, on such short notice and knowing your job situation, you needed months of lead time to get the time off. We went anyway without you. Next time.
Silver, I’m sure Bro John will read your reply and work on implementing your ideas.
regards, as always, jefe
