- spectaExplorerThis morning,
Front rating, 4400 - actual weight 3620
Rear rating, 6200 - actual weight 6980
Something in the rear is really heavy. LOL
Here's my first camper that I bought in 2016, a 9' 1996 Skyline Week Ender.
I weighed the truck on my way to pick up the camper and again on my way home with the camper. This was the day I bought it.
The tag on it says that in "standard" form it weighs close to 3000 lbs.
Extended cabover, microwave, electric jacks and what ever else wasn't standard it weighed 3760 lbs pretty much dry. 760 lbs in accessories.
Only being 9' it the weight was more evenly distributed front to rear.
I don't recall ever weighing it loaded headed camping.
Here's my 1995 Lance the day I bought it. Again I weighed the truck on my way to get the camper and again on my way home with the camper.
The sticker on my Lance says its max weight is 3234 lbs with 40 gal FW, 43 lbs LP and I can't make out how much weight in food in the refrigerator.
On the scale with some water and some LP it weighed 3260 lbs.
Loaded for camping its weighed 3960 lbs including the built in generator.
Kind of surprising that my 11'3" camper weights 500 pounds less than my 9' camper.
I comfortable with the way things have worked out. - jimh406Explorer III

Not aimed at anyone n particular but the rational concerning weights sometimes baffles me . So if you put G rated 19.5 wheels and tires on your 1500 series truck you are good for 16000# gvw , wow .
I don’t think anyone says that. First, it does nothing for the GVWR. I think that’s what you meant not GVW.
Many SRW rear axles are rated at over 9000 lbs which you’ll never hit with stock tires. Adding F/G rated 19.5s on can bring your tires up to that rating assuming they are aired at the correct inflation which will in effect give you room on the rear axle weight but also won’t raise the RAWR because that’s a number the manufacturer controls as well. - ticki2ExplorerNot aimed at anyone n particular but the rational concerning weights sometimes baffles me . - Highway_RunnerExplorerYep… I weighed mine the other day. 60 lbs below GVWR.
I feel good about it. - mountainkowboyExplorerWe sit at GVWR, floating between 9,800 to 10,600 depending on how were packed. But under on manufacture axles ratings. In the 90's it was more for warranty than anything else. If my truck didn't come with a bed the GVW would be higher, same truck, same drivetrain. Ford says my rear axles is rated to 7,400lbs...Sterling says 9,550. I've gone up to 235-85/16's, so they're capable of over 12k.
Been that way for 15 years, never a problem. - d3500ramExplorer IIII take it to mean that he is right at the numbers for the respective axles and over the GVWR which is entirely possible.
When I had mine, I was well under each axle rating and over the GVWR.
I think it is a misspoke word...
I think he meant: The WEIGHT (not rear) is over by quite a bit. The trucks GVWR is only 9500. - Kayteg1Explorer II

Total on the scales this morning, 10,600!!
And I thought I was over weight.
-------------and then-----------
Lets not worry about the details.
The rear is over by quite a bit. The trucks GVWR is only 9500
Could you make up your mind? - LongshoreExplorerI see no reason to sweat details. See I'm learning...
