Not a real uncommon problem. Your ball has a backward tilt. Maybe too much. Maybe not. Possibly the rear of your vehicle was slightly low when attempting to hitch. I would check the rear tilt to make sure it isn't excessive. Your equalizer hitch should have directions on how to set the tilt. Too much rear tilt can make it harder to hitch and unhitch. Grease helps but may not solve the problem.
